Breast cancer symptoms, What Every Woman Should Know
A lump that feels different from the surrounding breast tissue is one of the major breast cancer symptoms. More than 80% of breast cancer cases are discovered when a woman feels a lump in her breast. The first medical sign of breast cancer is discovered by a mammogram. Lumps detected in the lymph nodes in the armpit and the collarbone can also be signs of breast cancer. Other signs and symptoms of breast cancer are changes in the breast size and shape. Skin dimpling, nipple inversion and spontaneous single-nipple discharge are other signs of the disease. Pain in the breast is an ineffective indicator for breast cancer but it may be a sign of other breast health issues such as mastodynia. When breast cancer cells invade the dermal lymphatics, the outcome resembles, skin inflammation and this is known as inflammatory breast cancer. Signs and symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer include swelling, pain and warmth, redness throughout the breast and orange-peel texture to the skin. Sometimes, Paget?s disease of the breast could also be one of the breast cancer symptoms. This disease leads to skin changes for example redness and mild flaking of the nipple skin. Advanced Paget?s disease leads to symptoms like itching, tingling, burning, pain, increased sensitivity and sometimes it could lead to nipple discharge. Occasionally, breast cancer may spread beyond the breast making it a metastatic disease or more precisely metastatic breast cancer. Metastatic breast cancer causes symptoms depending on the area of metastasis. Some common sites of metastasis include the liver, the lungs, bones and the brain.
